Okay,
I guess it's time for me to get back on the soap box.
I am referring to the article posted below.
I can not believe how sick you must be to pick up a small harmless creature and throw it into a fire. Granted, some people have an aversion to mice. They do have their down sides: plague carriers, food definlers, and droppings. And some otherwise sane, rational adults have horrible fears of these small furry friends. But I really doubt the guy who picked one up had an irrational level fear.
These are fellow creatures who share our planet. They do feed the more "socially appropriate" animals: wolves, foxes, cats, birds of prey, and even large scale predators such as bears and people, occasionally. They keep grasses in check and help spread seeds fo rnecessary plants.
But besides my "they are entitle to the planet too" approach to life, this guy picked one up, presumably looked at it, and decided it should BURN TO DEATH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He decided it should not die humanely, but rather endure the pain of being burned alive. AM I the only one that sees this as just sick? The only one who thinks, "And this guy is loose on the streets?" What about an inconvenient neighborhood cat, or small dog? Yes, this is a slippery slope argument but so is the world we live in (and the human mind).
Even if you are a strict "man is the only souled life form" Christian, what happened to be kind, and caring to the lower creatures? Isn't man a "steward" of the Earth and its creatures...not the destroyer, inflicter of pain?
The Goddess isn't always so quick with her revenge and I think this guy has alot more coming. Hope he likes his next life in the corner of someone's basement. I sure hope they don't have the same attitude he does.

You are too cool. Have you ever read this short story called "Thinking Like A Mountain"? It is a cool short piece on how everything in this world is connected. It is very thought provoking- like your blog.
I absolutely agree with you. It makes me want to vomit when I hear about things like this. Also, it furthers my conviction to use my legal training to help our non-human counterparts.
